Online Training Workshop: Identifying suitable corporate career paths for self, by self
Duration: 1 hour
Time : 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Date – 5th April 2024
Workshop Facilitators – Mr. Sandeep Munjal and Mrs. Anita Sharma
This workshop is an initiative of the School of Management & Entrepreneurship at Vedatya. The objective of this workshop is to help young minds dreaming of successful corporate careers find a fit. A protean career needs an individual to connect with self, and evaluate and critically examine the compatibility of suggested or researched alternatives before commencing the journey. A successful corporate career can be built only when a ‘fit’ is achieved between ‘self’ and choose ‘career option’.
The role of the ‘second person’ in this process is secondary. The second person, be it the parent, the school, the social circle, friends, peers or qualified counselors can be a part of the support structure that enables decision-making at an individual level, but any effort to modify this role to a ‘primary’ decision making is fraught with the danger of pushing young students to accept choices for their lives that are being made by others for them. This is the case for many a student, and though intentions are well-meaning, the result is a choice being exercised by proxy and hence limited personal commitment towards the same.
A career choice must be a conscious decision made by self, after evaluating the external environmental realities and also engaging with the ‘inner self’ ensuring a strategic fit that can deliver a corporate career journey that is protean in every respect.
The training workshop shifts the focus back to the ‘primary’ decision maker- the student. The workshop enables young minds to reflect, introspect, evaluate, analyze and eventually make suitable choices with a stronger possibility of being logical and rational.
The workshop content is built on a framework that recognizes the four critical components of ‘career fit’:
And then nudges the participants to evaluate the shared ‘Corporate Career Choice Matrix’ to connect the ‘Self’ with Corporate Career path both in terms of sectors/industries and the functional roles probing a fit. A key outcome for participants is an internal dialogue that ensues, helping build internal clarity on identifying the academic business qualifications required and the need for choosing a structured approach to diverse work situations through a blend of work-study combinations.
These workshops are delivered by senior faculty in leadership roles, Vedatya is committed to playing a positive role as a stakeholder in the education sector at large, and the training workshop is an endeavor that finds roots in that commitment.
