About Vedatya

Vedatya institute is an educator for the service industry.

The institute is an initiative of IIT & the Wharton School alums who wish to replicate their own quality educational experience for the benefit of students in India. It is funded by the holding entity of Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi; Radisson Blu Varanasi and a restaurant chain called The Great Kabab Factory.

Vedatya was founded in the year 2000 with a long-term objective to provide best-in-class, internationally recognized, undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and executive education programs of study in the service sector-related areas of hospitality management, business, culinary arts, and design. It currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Hospitality and Business Management.

Winter Internships | Learn and Explore

The range of options shared below are being offered to students from classes 11th and 12th to introduce them to contemporary themes that have the potential to be developed into career paths, and as a minimum provide value in terms of skills and knowledge required to enhance ‘life skills in general.

These four-day programs are going to be facilitated at the Vedatya campus during the January month from the 3rd to the 6th (10.30 am to 2.30 pm) when the schools are closed for winter break.

Students can sign up for only one theme/ track at a time.

Exploring Food | Foundation Course in Culinary Arts

The program provides a platform for passionate individuals to hone their culinary skills and acts as a stepping stone for budding chefs who may like to consider a future career in the vibrant sphere of culinary arts. The short-term program is designed to introduce aspiring students to the world of professional culinary arts. During the sessions, the participants would get a good understanding of various aspects around food, farm-to-fork, cuisines, chefs, the future of chefs, professional kitchens, bakeries, hot & cold kitchens, sustainability, career options, etc. All the sessions will have a live culinary workshop which ensures a complete learning cycle.

The program structure is apt for students who have a passion for food and would want to explore possible career opportunities in culinary arts.

Expected learning outcomes are as follows:

Learn the basic cooking techniques

Understand the requirements of becoming a professional chef

Explore with food, a range of recipes in real-time by working with professional chefs

Acquire knowledge and skills around using kitchen equipment and resources

To evaluate the probability of opting for culinary as a preferred career option

Program Duration: 4 days (4 hours @4 days a week)

Exploring Food | Foundation Course in Bakery and Pastry Arts

This foundation course in Bakery will allow learners to showcase their creativity and passion for Baking. This short-term course takes you by the hand and teaches you the basics of bakery and pastry arts.  All the sessions will have a live culinary workshop which ensures a complete learning cycle. The programme structure is apt for students who have a passion for bakery and would want to explore possible career opportunities in bakery and pastry arts.

Expected learning outcomes are as follows:

Learn the basic baking techniques

Understand the requirements of becoming a professional baker/ pastry chef

Explore making bread, pastries, and desserts by working real-time with bakers/chefs

Acquire knowledge and skills around using bakery/confectionary equipment’s and resources

To evaluate the possibility of opting for bakery & pastry as a preferred career option

Program Duration: 4 days (4 hours @4 days a week)

­­­Digital Marketing Basics

The program will allow students to discuss and analyze the main concepts and theories underlying digital marketing. Students will learn how a digital marketing strategy fits into an organization’s wider marketing plan and evaluate the differences between traditional marketing and e-marketing. The workshop will offer exposure to role of AI as a tool driving digital marketing efficiency and impact

Expected learning outcomes are as follows:

Describe and assess the core concepts associated with digital marketing and E-

Explain the differences between the different digital marketing tools and assess their appropriateness for use in a particular business situation.

Recognize how digital marketing can play a role in the future of business practice to reach and engage with a diverse population base.

Integrate social media tools into a marketing communications strategy.

Demonstrate how to utilize the popular online marketing platforms, such as Google AdWords and Google Analytics, to make sound marketing decisions

Program Duration: 4days (4 hours @4 days a week)

Entrepreneurship in Hospitality and Events

The 4 days’ workshop will provide an opportunity to consider what it means to be an entrepreneur and would further introduce the participants to the idea of entrepreneurship in Hospitality and Events. Building on the same the participants would be acclimatized with various stages of event planning. The program will also allow students to understand the dynamic world of managing hospitality businesses and events.

Expected learning outcomes

After completing the workshop successfully, the participants will:

Build an overview of relevant areas of entrepreneurial theory and practice

Understand the concept of event management, typology of events and multiple phases in executing an event

Interact with entrepreneurs to understand the key traits, competencies, and challenges

Develop a business idea into a business plan and pitch the same for funding to potential investors

Learn to work in teams and develop leadership skills

Program Duration: 4days (4 hours @ 4 days a week)

Exploring Design and Creative Arts

The program spread over 4 days will be structured towards enabling young learners to discover their creativity and imagination, allowing them to probe both their potential and interest in the design related career paths. The program will offer four design directions that learners can engage with during the internship and will also build personal portfolios in these as a program outcome.

The day-wise program will include:

Day 1: Design of spaces and structures

Day 2: Storytelling and communication

Day 3: Fashion, lifestyle and culture

Day 4: Design of User Experiences

After completing the program successfully, the participants will:

Develop an initial understanding of the design domains by engaging with key foundational elements

Recognize the importance of building ‘design thinking’ aptitude as a starting point for a career in the design space irrespective of the chosen specialization or domain

Participants will interact with practitioners and domain experts, which will also help them in evaluating their personal fit for a potential career in a design area

The design directions offered in the program will enable participants to learn/engage with a wide range of activities/ topics in an applied way, some of these are:

Design thinking and its application

Photography basics

Sustainable design methods

Introduction to geometrical construction

Typography basics

Digital media

Understanding user experiences

Immersive spaces and experiences

Fashion basics and trends

Importance of culture in design outcomes

Project planning and execution

Program Duration: 4 days (8 hours @ 4 days a week, including 2 hours self-study)

Internship Fee & Process of Registration

 Rs. 5000/- plus GST will be charged as a Registration Fee for any theme as per the choice of candidate.

Boarding and Lodging will be arranged (if required) at the institute hostel with a charge of Rs. 8000/- per participant including meals and AC accommodation on twin sharing basis
