About the Event

Design Thinking & Creative Expression Program @Vedatya

Vedatya is offering a program for class 11th and 12th students that allows them to define their creative expression through a design thinking approach.

The weekend program, held on their campus on Gurgaon Sohna road, allows the participants to probe their potential and interest in design related career paths, helps them build a design portfolio and builds design thinking competence that is a critical component of entrance exams at nationalized and private design schools. This is done through an applied orientation that includes workshops, studios and interaction with industry experts.

Topics included in the program are as follows.

  1. Program Introduction | Introduction to the programme content and student expectation
  2. Design Thinking and its Application | Recognize how design affects varied aspects of our life and learn about the design thinking process
  3. Basics of Photography | Learn basics of photography through an interactive masterclass
  4. Functional Design for Service Spaces | Learn to apply design fundamentals to a service space setting like a restaurant, retail shops, etc.
  5. Sustainable Design | Appreciate the significance that design and sustainability work hand in hand. This is done through the use of practical examples
  6. Introduction to Fashion Design | Learn how fashion designers apply their creativity for driving marketable trends
  7. Product Design | Appreciation of the product developmental process and incorporation of design thinking principles through simple examples
  8. Communication and Presentation Skills | Learn the importance of creative expression in written and verbal fromats to communicate effectively with all stakeholders

Budding Chef Competition | 2019

About the Event

The Budding Chef Competition in previous years has been a huge success with nearly 50 schools participating each year. It is indeed a fantastic opportunity for the participants to demonstrate their skills, creativity and passion for a potential culinary pathway.

Each team needs to prepare a two course menu choosing from a starter and a dessert. The teams are required to prepare meals for 2 portions only. The teams will be asked to cook, plate their dish and present it in an innovative manner. Performance of the competition will be judged by professional chefs on the basis of nutritional value, presentation, taste, creativity, cleanliness and least wastage.

Top teams will compete for the title in the final competition in December amongst an audience of over 300 people.

Also note that there is a Rs. 500 per school entry fee that needs to be paid through the payment page.

Design Competition | 2019

About the Event

The design competition encourages participants to think out of the box, use their skills and knowledge to compete, and also learn to work in teams to achieve results.

Participants are expected to bring and use waste or recyclable materials of any kind for creative expression. The product created could be a garment, a piece of furniture, an electronic gadget or anything else, as long as the materials being used can be classified as waste/recyclable/reusable with a clear sustainability footprint.

Vedatya will reserve the right to disallow any material that does not fit the above stated description with no right of appeal from the participating team. Therefore please provide pictures of the material before the event to be approved.

No materials will be provided by Vedatya. Teams will need to bring their own materials and ideas to the competition.

Vedatya invites class 11th and 12th students for a fun and creative sand castle competition on our campus. It is being organized by the School of Design and Creative Arts.

This unique competition is meant to provide participants a platform to express their creativity through the use of sand. It aspires to rekindle the joy of re-building one's own sand castle that many of us built in our childhood on a beach.

Vedatya will provide the sand. You bring your imagination and all tools required to give shape to your imagination.

Participation is free with attractive prizes for top teams and a certificate for everyone. A team can have a maximum of 3 students and participation is limited to top 20 entries only.

About the Event

Summer Internship 2019 for Schools @Vedatya

Vedatya is offering it's fourth revision of the Summer Internship Program to students from class 11th and 12th to introduce them to contemporary themes that have potential to be developed into career paths, and as a minimum provide value in terms of skills and knowledge required to enhance ‘life skills’ in general. It will be held over 4 days for 4 hours each day.

The programme will cover Hospitality Mangement, Business Management and Design program related tracks. It will provide a real world perspective to the students in the hospitality, culinary, digital marketing, design management, communication design and entrepreneurship related industry.

Details about each track are provided below.

a. Exploring Food | Creative Production and Sustainable Practices

The program provides a platform for passionate individuals to hone their culinary skills and acts as a stepping stone for budding chefs who may like to consider a future career in the vibrant sphere of culinary arts.

The one week Program will involve training in kitchen operations in a fun way and will include inputs on key tasks, knowledge, and skill components In addition to the culinary parameter, interns shall also be introduced to certain dining etiquettes which are largely observed in the international corporate world today. The students will receive appropriate certification to that effect from Vedatya.

Expected learning outcomes are as follows

  • Build basic understanding and skills to probe one’s interest in culinary art
  • Recognize how sustainability principles can be practiced to bring change
  • Learn corporate dining etiquettes

Program Duration: 4 days (4 hours @ 4 days a week)

b. Design Thinking for Planning Creative Events

The program provides basic knowledge and understanding towards planning and implementation of a successful event. It will provide learners with an insight of all the related elements which essentially shape the outcome of an event. The program focuses on the design thinking aptitude and link the same with operational, as well as the non‐operational aspects like project management, market research, promotional techniques, and basic hospitality operational elements. The learners will receive appropriate certification from Vedatya.

Expected learning outcomes are as follows

*What is Event Management? What is Design Thinking and how is that linked with creative event planning Working as a team, learning to lead and be led Event management basics are discussed and a plan document prepared

Program Duration: 4 days (4 hours @ 4 days a week)

c. Digital Marketing and Role of Artificial Intelligence

The program will allow students to discuss and analyse the main concepts and theories underlying digital marketing. Students will learn how a digital marketing strategy fits into an organisation’s wider marketing plan and evaluate the differences between traditional marketing and e-marketing. The workshop will offer exposure to role of AI as a tool driving digital marketing efficiency and impact. The students will also be given further insight on how to prepare a blog. The learners will receive appropriate certification from Vedatya.

Expected learning outcomes are as follows

  • Discuss how ‘Digital Marketing’ tends to refer to an external perspective of how the internet can be used in conjunction with traditional media to acquire and deliver services to customer
  • Expanding role of AI (artificial intelligence) and its impact on Digital Marketing
  • Using social media as a marketing tool
  • Using blogs for content management

Program Duration: 4 days (4 hours @ 4 days a week)

d. Learning about Entrepreneurship

The program will allow students to discuss and analyse the main traits that are seen in successful entrepreneurs. Concepts and theories underlying entrepreneurship will be discussed. Students will interact with a range of entrepreneurs to understand their journey and get guidance on how to pursue that as a career path. Basic training to construct an ‘idea’ into an actionable ‘business plan’ will be a part of the program. As a group, the students will present a business plan to an industry panel. The learners will receive appropriate certification from Vedatya.

Expected learning outcomes are as follows

  • Discuss the traits that are important for becoming a successful entrepreneur
  • Use an idea to build a simple business plan and answer questions around its feasibility
  • Recognize that entrepreneurship is a potential career pathway

Clay Workshop | 2019

“Being creative is not a hobby, It’s a way of life”

Join us for a 2 hour clay workshop at our campus. It is being organized by the School of Design and Creative Arts.

The workshop is meant to provide participants a hands on experience with clay on the wheel and to feel the joy of creating simple forms and see characters taking shape.

The course is intended to teach hand building techniques like pinch, slab and coil work. Participants will also learn decorating techniques such as slip work, under glazing, impressing, incising, and making their own pottery stamps in a very informal and friendly atmosphere.

The workshop is being conducted by Ms Dipti Gupta, who runs her own ceramic studio in Delhi.

Website Design Competition | 2018

About the Event

The participants will have an opportunity to express their creativity to give their best shot at creating an appealing business website within 4 hrs. It’s not an easy task, so you can use an existing website as a template to showcase your idea but you need to justify the usage for your market segment and user interface so please don’t just copy and paste. Alternatively, you can create the graphics from scratch.

Your main target, while developing a website, is to strike the right chord with the target audience.

Phase One | The Planning Stage

This phase will be oriented towards building a team of 3 to 4 students at the school level (class 11th to 12th) and their efforts to work together to graphically creating a website using a tool of their choice within the given time frame.

i. Website Creation

Participants are expected to give their best shot at creating an appealing business website within 4 hrs. To do that, you need to consider every important aspect and inherent feature that a website includes. These include the site’s main purpose, its architecture, its user interface and the mobile compatibility / responsiveness. You will be required to provide the home page design and representative designs of any of the sub-pages that you think are required. Please note that the design format should be for both the desktop and the mobile version of the website. Also note that participants are required to carry their own laptops and other required devices to access internet.

ii. Judging Criteria

Participants will be judged on the basis of overall impact and functionality of the website. Performance of teams will be rated by experts exciting awards will be given to the winning team, each team will receive certificate of participation from Vedatya.

Wall Art & Design Competition | 2018

About the Event

School of Design and Creative Arts at Vedatya organized an inter-school ‘Wall Art and Design’ competition on 15th and 16th October 2018. The completion received an overwhelming response as a large number of teams from schools pan India participated. It was great to witness the participants express themselves through the medium of art around the theme ‘Student life and Friendship’. The wall art that the teams left behind at Vedatya campus has not just livened up the campus but also left us with so much to ponder and reflect on. We enjoyed hosting the teams and look forward to doing more in this space.

The Awards

All participating teams did a fabulous job on the walls, toiled through the day to present some amazing works of art expressing their thoughts, experiences and more…the judges had a tough task on hand as they announced the winners

  1. 1st Prize goes to the team from Summerfield School, Gurgaon ( Priyanka Panda, Nandini Gupta and Sayan Kundu)
  2. 2nd Prize goes to the team from Shalom Hills, Gurgaon (Nayanika Gangani, Sakshi Bhardwaj and Shreya Sharma)

The judges also gave a special mention to the team from Eisher School, Parwanoo (Sakshi Kashyap, Megha Jaswal and Bhupinder Singh Bhullar)

Vedatya is offering a summer internship in the month of May and June 2018.

The 4 days (4 hours per day) internship program is offered to students from 9th to 12th classes to introduce them to contemporary themes that have the potential to be developed into career paths, and at a minimum provide value in terms of the skills and knowledge requried to enhance "life skills" in general.

The internships will cover both the tracks, i.e. Hospitality Management and Business Management, which will provide a real world perspective to the students in 4 tracks - "Exploring Food | Creative Production and Beyond", "Digital Marketing and E-Business", "Learning About Entrepreneurship" and "Learning to Manage Hospitality Events".

The programs are offered on a complementary basis.

Summer Internship 2017 @Vedatya

Vedatya has been offering short term internships to school students in different areas of Management, Research and Hospitality Operations. We are happy to announce that the first summer batch of 170 students have successfully completed their internship. The programme was designed to give interns a platform to explore themselves and grow their knowledge and technical skills in specific themes. We are hoping to run the internship program again in December, 2017 and looking forward to interacting with more students.
