Dr. Ramesh Kapur, along with the other partners, was instrumental in promoting a company in 1972, called Unitech Ltd. Unitech is now one of India's largest Real Estate, Construction, and Hospitality ventures. This conglomerate is a true entrepreneurial venture that started with an initial investment of merely Rs. 50,000. By the time Dr. Kapur divested his interest in Unitech in late 2005, this initial investment had been converted to Rs. 700 crores in revenue.

During his 33-year tenure as Promoter Director of Unitech Limited, Dr. Kapur first led Unitech's expansion in the southern part of India on various construction projects and then went to Libya in 1978 to spearhead the company's first international construction assignment. He also lead Unitech's foray into the Hospitality industry with the conception, inception and operation of Radisson Delhi in 1998 with an outlay of Rs. 90 crores. Under his leadership as the Managing Director of Radisson Delhi, the hotel has established itself as the Carlson group's flagship hotel in India. In short, Dr. Kapur's business acumen and leadership has been one of the key factors in growing Unitech's revenue from Rs. 20 lakhs in 1983 to Rs. 700 crores in 2005.

In 2008, Senior Editors of Business Sphere Magazine, awarded Dr. Kapur the "Hotelier of the Year" title.
