Food image of a destination has become one of the factors to attract tourists from across the world. The authenticity of the food and its unique cognitive image significantly impacts the tourists to decide on a destination to visit; the urban destination food image is also gaining popularity amongst the tourists under urban culinary tourism. The research paper identifies prominent observations from the existing literature and its relative engagement and challenges of culinary tourism on urban destination image. The conclusion was drawn based on interviews conducted with 30 senior chefs associated with five-star hotels in the Delhi region. The paper identifies various themes from the chefs’ perspective which can be considered important issues while dealing with urban tourism destinations and their implications. The result was gathered by employing the content analysis methodology which indicated numerous themes. These themes will help to understand the issues and challenges related to urban destination food image and culinary tourism. The study will contribute to the literature in the form of identified themes which can be further analysed as important factors for the future study. Future studies can be done at different geographical destinations.
