2 year full-time program (including two internships through the 2-Year study period and 13 projects that build your portfolio)
Degree Awarded by Gurugram University, Gurugram, Haryana
The professional world is increasingly looking for multidisciplinary teams to work together and evolve solutions. Early-stage professionals who may want to onboard to the creative sector find it difficult to find the right learning opportunity. At the same time, young students of creative subjects would like to explore their skills in various areas before committing to a specialization.
In an increasingly interconnected world, the skills that are required to navigate complex situations cannot be left to an education program at the very end of the learning process. Rather, the seeds for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary thinking have to be sown at the beginning itself.
The 2 year Diploma in Interdsiciplinary Design Studies is conceived as a stepping stone for both professionals who want to enter into creative industries as well as students who want to explore creative practices before deciding to specialize in a particular field. The focus of the program is on interdisciplinary projects that the students undertake in teams, under the guidance of industry experts and faculty members. A total of 13 projects are expected to be completed in the 2 year study period, along with internships and exposure tours.
In addition to the projects, modules in marketing, finance, soft skills & personality development, branding & communication, operations in customer facing businesses as well as critical thinking in collaboration with business and hospitality students will form a broad base for the students to get a truly interdisciplinary experience.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to seek employment in entry level positions in the creative industries. They can also work for a couple of years and come back to complete their Bachelor of Design degree.
The program aims to transform individuals with a passion to work in the design space into professionals with a specialized industry focus ready to work in the rapidly evolving design industry in India. Through studying/ experimenting with design fundamentals and varied approaches, spending time in a design organization on a professional work placement – the students would gain academic understanding and practical knowledge of the issues involved in successful designing for chosen areas of specialization.
